MSJ.12   Russian System of 1881 Golden Honor Sword  SOLD

This is the second time I have owned this exceptionally rare sword and am delighted to have it back. Golden Honor swords were only awarded to very high ranking Officer's for bravery and are one of the rarest swords you will encounter. This beautiful example has a 30" blade with two narrow and one wide fuller and a 4 1/2" etched panel with the Czarist

eagle. Though the blade is bright and clean there is some salt and pepper darkening and scattered light pitting, mostly toward the tip. Beautifully carved and polished dark wood grips and gilt brass mounts. The cross guard bears the inscription "For Bravery" on both sides as well as the enamled badge of St. George on the pommel. Sheath has gilt brass mounts with a fine leather covering in excellent condition. However, the tip to the sheath has been replaced by a coarser leather cover. This sword is truley for the descriminating collector who wants a "One-of-a kind"    II+ [Click here to Order]
