Artifacts from the old western Forts and Ghost Towns are getting hard to find and ever more
popular. I have been fortunate to obtain this small group of items found in the early 1960's at the following sites . Fort Logan was an Indian Wars fort in Meagher County, Montana established to protect the
prospectors and freighters in this area from Indian unrest. Diamond City was a gold rush town in Broadwater County, Montana which sprung up at one of the richest placer strikes ever discovered in Montana. It was
located on Confederate Gulch, so named because most of it's inhabitants had been Confederate soldiers during the Civil War which was just drawing to a close. All that is left today are just a few foundations
and a substantial cemetery. Some of these items will be from Grizzly Gulch which was the location of the original town dump for Helena (the capitol of Montana) this dump was abandoned in 1873. Where ever gold rush
towns sprung up in Montana there was usually an influx of Chinese as laborers, small businessmen, and miners. So, a number of the artifacts found are easily recognized as those left behind by this oriental
community.

AHA.25 CONFEDERATE BIBLE $700.
A large leather bound William W. Harding fine edition table bible, printed in 1860. The front leaf dedication indicates this was presented by Hattie E. Stradley to her Esteemed Friend, Mrs. C.A. McKay,
Greenville, South Carolina, August 4th 1861. Fancy center leaf pages with several giving the usual family history with births deaths etc. which indicate the family came from
Glasgow, Scotland to South Carolina in the early 1800's. What really makes this bible noteworthy is the death notice of Lt. James Yancey, killed at Jonesboro Georgia (the battle for Atlanta) on the 31st of August in
Confederate Service, while leading a charge on the enemy. Still has such little things as flowers, locks of hair, and a fancy cloth bible book mark
pressed in the pages. For it's age this is an extremely sound example with a slight crack on one edge of the binding. Considering this is 140 years old and a definite confederate example, it is an extreme rarity. [Click here to order ]
AHA.26 SPANISH TREASURE The wreck of the
Spanish Plate Fleet on July 31st, 1715 remains one of the greatest maritime losses in history. Eleven ships loaded with at least $15,000,000 in registered treasure, looted from the Indian tribes
of Latin America, weighed anchor and set sail for Spain on July 27th. The fleet was struck by a terrible hurricane on the night of the 31st. Ten of the ships and more than
1000 men were pounded to death on the jagged reefs off the coast of Florida. These coins, called cobs, are part of that treasure which has been found over the last forty years. .[ Click here to order ]
